About Me

img_3270I am a writer, podcast producer and communications professional located in the D.C. area.

I view my role as a writer and producer to be a middleman of sorts. I take information and transform it for the audience. My job is to make the package appealing so that the audience is happy to engage.

When I first started out as a journalist working at small publications, I never had the luxury of picking a beat. Instead, my reporting has run the gamut, covering everything from restaurants to breaking news. This eclectic mix fed my curiosity and kept me on my toes. On some occasions, I had two weeks to learn about an issue. On others, I had 20 minutes. These sink-or-swim moments helped to bolster my research skills, giving me the ability to quickly identify the important details and discard the fluff.

I believe that the most important quality I possess is empathy, and I put it to use in everything I create. To write is to seek to understand.  Reading a story or listening to a podcast is an opportunity to learn and relate.

When I shifted from reporting to nonprofit communications, first at the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF) and now at the Legal Services Corporation (LSC), all of these skills and lessons allowed me to effectively and creatively promote the mission-driven work and tell the success stories.

At LSC, I’ve been so grateful to work on our podcast, Talk Justice. I’ve been a dedicated listener to so many amazing podcasts over the years, and I even studied audio storytelling while at Pitt.  I’ll always enjoy crafting amazing conversations.
